From 1 close per 100 cold leads to 7.

Here’s the exact DM flow we used.

Hey you,

Let’s not waste time.

One of my business coach clients came to me in April.
She’d been “doing the work” for months. Posting content. Messaging people. Showing up.

Still:
100 COLD leads messaged
27 replies
15 booked calls
6 showed up
1 client closed

Her words:
“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore.”

My words:
“You’re not talking like a human. You’re talking like someone trying to sound smart on LinkedIn.”

Here’s the exact flow we used to turn her DMs—and her sales process—around.

This is the full swipe file. Keep it. Use it. Make it your own.

STEP 1: CONNECTION REQUEST THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU LOOK DESPERATE (ALL FOR COLD LEADS)

We stopped sending polite, forgettable messages.
We wrote like her. Direct. A little bold. Low pressure.

DM 1 – Connection request:

Hey [Name]—Saw your post on [insert topic]. Sharp stuff.
I work with business coaches to build lead gen systems that don’t drain their energy.
Would be good to connect if you’re doing something similar.

No “hope you’re well.”
Just a reason to connect that’s about them—not a pitch.

STEP 2: START A CONVERSATION, NOT A SALES SCRIPT

Once they accepted, she’d freeze.
“What do I say that doesn’t feel weird?”

Here’s what we tested—and what actually got responses.

DM 2 – Day after they accept:

Appreciate the connect. Noticed you’re focused on [niche].
If you’re ever working on outbound or content strategy—I’ve got some good stuff that’s working right now for my coaching clients.
Not pushing anything. Just figured I’d offer.

10x better than a paragraph about your offer and your awards.

STEP 3: FOLLOW-UP SEQUENCE

People don’t respond because they’re busy. Not because they’re uninterested.

Here’s what we sent when they didn’t reply:

DM 3 – 2 days later:

Just circling back in case this got buried. Totally cool either way.

DM 4 – 5 days later:

If now’s not the right time, all good. Just let me know and I’ll back off.

You’re not chasing. You’re checking in.
Respect = response.

STEP 4: QUALIFY LIKE A COACH, NOT A CLOSER

When someone did reply, she’d immediately offer a call.

We stopped that.

Instead, we made sure the person was actually a fit.

Here’s how:

Qualifying Flow (once they engage):

Mind if I ask a couple quick q’s to see if I can actually help?

If yes:

  1. What’s your current process for getting leads on LinkedIn?

  2. What’s working—and what’s not?

  3. Who do you work with? What’s your offer + price point?

  4. How many new clients are you trying to bring in each month?

  5. Do you have 3–4 hours a week to put into outreach + content?

That’s it. No long survey.

Just the core stuff we needed to know to see if we could help.

STEP 5: OFFER THE CALL WITH CONTEXT

Once we had clarity, we dropped this:

DM 5 – Call invite:

Based on what you said—you’ve got a $5k+ offer, a decent audience, and you’re only converting 1–2 clients a month...
With some small shifts, we could turn that into 5–7/month easily.
Want to jump on a quick call next week to map it out?

Direct. No fake scarcity.

STEP 6: WHAT IF THEY GHOST?

Yeah. That happens.

Here’s how we follow up after they go cold:

Follow-up 1 (24 hrs):

Still good to chat?

Follow-up 2 (3 days):

Hey—been thinking about your offer and there’s a gap you could close fast. Want to talk it through?

Final follow-up (7 days):

If this isn’t the right time, totally cool. Just let me know and I’ll circle back down the line.

That’s the flow.

No fancy automation.
No warm-up sequences.
Just messages that sound like you, and lead to real conversations.

It helped her go from 1 close per 100 cold leads… to 7.
And now you’ve got the exact playbook.
